A color name is not always a standard.

CSS names are exact browser keywords. Human color names are different. “Sage,” “Blush” and “Cerulean” can refer to different shades depending on the reference. Chromary keeps those references separate.

Perceptual matching

Find colors that look close, not just numbers that sit close.

Chromary converts colors into Oklab and ranks nearby references using ΔEOK. That gives the matcher a more perceptual basis than raw RGB coordinate distance. The result is still a reference, not a universal naming authority.
